About Mingyang Thin Film

Guangdong Mingyang Thin Film Technology Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ming Yang Smart Energy Group (Shanghai Stock Exchange: 601615), a wind, solar, storage and hydrogen group. It makes cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin-film modules and BIPV glass under the Mingyang PV Glass brand, and develops perovskite and heterojunction (HJT) technologies.

Most of its business is custom design and production: BIPV glass that differs in shape, size, colour and transmittance, delivered with design support, installation guidance and maintenance.

It builds BIPV glass at two production bases, Zhongshan and Yancheng, with its own CdTe, heterojunction (HJT) and perovskite cell lines, so the whole chain from the cell to the finished glass panel is made and checked in one place.

Why thin-film PV glass

Glass that behaves like architectural glass and also generates electricity.

Glass first

Laminated and insulating build-ups with tempered glass of 5 to 12 mm, so the PV glass meets the same structural and thermal needs as the rest of the façade.

Good in vertical façades

According to the manufacturer, CdTe depends little on tilt, works well in weak and diffuse light and has no significant hot-spot effect.

Uniform appearance

The thin-film layer has a homogeneous look, and coloured front glass matches the PV glass to the ordinary glazing next to it.

Connected to the building

Production goes to storage, EV chargers and the SPACE dashboard; solar blinds and windows can be controlled from SPACE.

Façades, windows, skylights, blinds and roofs from one photovoltaic glass platform.

PV curtain walls and façades

CdTe photovoltaic glass in place of the vision or spandrel glass of a curtain wall. It is available opaque or semi-transparent and as laminated double or triple glass, with power from 115 W at 0% to 46 W at 60% transmittance for a 1200 × 600 mm module.

BIPV Standard Module MY-JL-B5/B6/B8: 1200 × 600 mm, opaque, up to 110 W, glass 5 + 3.2 + 5 to 8 + 3.2 + 8 mm · customised glass up to 4 × 6 m, tempered or semi-tempered 5–12 mm, PVB 0.38–3.04 mm, laminated or insulating · wind and snow load 6000 Pa (IEC)

BIPV windows and insulating glass units

Laminated PV glass built into an insulating glass unit with a Low-E layer and an air, nitrogen or argon gap, ready for window and window-wall frames. The transparent version lets daylight in and gives a clear view out while it generates electricity.

Semi-Transparent PV Module MY-3CT: 1200 × 600 × 6.8 mm, 12 kg · 0/20/40/60% transparency: 115/92/69/46 W · insulating build-ups (three glass layers with insulating glass, optionally double glass) as customised glass

Skylights, canopies and carports

Semi-transparent PV glass for skylights, atria, sunrooms, canopies and carports: daylight below, electricity above. For skylights the manufacturer shows, for example, 20% transmittance, and insulating build-ups add thermal and acoustic comfort.

Solar blinds in photovoltaic glass: closed, half open and open

Solar blinds

An insulating glass unit with blinds inside, powered by its own thin-film PV glass. Lifting and tilting of the blinds run on solar power, so no mains supply is needed for the drive. SPACE can include them in shading and ventilation scenarios.

Datasheet example: 1200 × 600 × 45 mm · 60% transmittance · 37.8 W · 50 kg · 5 mm + 3.2 mm CdTe + 5 mm laminated, 22 mm gap, 5 mm glass

Solar roof tiles

PV roof tiles for new pitched roofs and renovations replace glazed, clay or metal tiles and keep the look of a tiled roof. Planar tiles are available in CdTe and HJT; curved tiles are planned for 2027.

Coloured photovoltaic glass samples

Colours and patterns

Coloured front glass matches the façade to ordinary or Low-E glass: for example coffee brown, grey, sky blue and deep blue, and printed patterns such as marble. Colour reduces power: according to the manufacturer, black loses about 10% and white up to 30%. We confirm the look on samples before the order.
